Everyone in the UK firm has just been given a extra 4 days holiday this year - one to be taken either the day before or the day after the August Bank Holiday weekend, and the others to bridge the gap between Christmas & New Year.

4. Days.

8,000 people.

4 DAYS.

:O

You've missed nothing! The firm's had a good year, and the partners have decided to share the lurve :) Hence everyone in the UK who works for them's getting an extra 4 days' holiday. For free.

I'm sure they do - they're just less worried about you leaving & getting more money elsewhere... < / cynicism >

Excellent practice. I should be so lucky, although there are rumours of profit-based bonuses this year...
How many days do you usually get?

I usually get 127 hours, plus 51 for bank holidays (since I don't work Mondays, everything's pro-rated). TBH, I'd rather have more cash, but that's *never* going to happen :(
