Something happens when I travel east of the M1 or south of Birmingham. When I manage both, I almost invariably end up having a wonderful time and desperately wanting to move away from the Armpit of England.

I'm running on yoghurt-covered crystallised ginger to stay awake & warm, which seems to be having a similar effect to a bottle of wine. I'm sure the grammar will catch up with me one day.

This weekend was spent in Norfolk with [livejournal.com profile] nannyo and friends, celebrating several 30th birthdays and N&I's 10-years-without-getting-married anniversary. The 4-hour drive each way was improved by being followed by a Vantage, out-accelerating a 911 (1990s version) and a Chimaera, and seeing a Real Live Exige on the way there, and an F430 (in proper red) on the way home.

Oooh, we went to the beach, and Ian flew Cthulhu, and we decided that Donald Duck has a brother called Davros Duck, and watched Doctor Who (sexy physicsist!) and QI and Buzzcocks, and something about Stalin and architecture that means [livejournal.com profile] dr_wez is actually a gokmop (or possibly a cockmop, depending on accent), and the lads showed their nipples even though we weren't in Yorkshire, and they had a poking competition on the rug and I laughed so much it hurt.

I started re-knitting my stripy jumper in a size that might actually fit this time, and baited the garden for the local pheasants, and parked behind another Vantage in the village that had been left lying around at the side of the road, but when we got back someone had driven off with the wrong car so I had to take the Mazda back instead.

And I miss everybody lots already and it'll be June before I see them again and it's Not Good Enough. Photos to come when I've uploaded them all.

Hooray for photos! Next time we do Norfolk, we'll pick you up in Doncaster or something, cos that means less driving, more random chatting.

I was just thinking that June is a long way away...damnit.

Oooh, yes! I can't think of any plans in the rest of May atm, but have a work diary to check.

That's odd, I remember you saying in one of the first posts of yours I read that you'd never move away from where you are now.

Really? Are you sure it was me? Maybe I was complaining because I *ant* to move away, but can't figure out how I'm going to manage it, what with needing to find another job & sell my house / buy a shoebox in the south east?

Stockport is the armpit of England. I'd move in a second, if I could.

Sounds familiar ;) Yes; I live in Stockport, but come from Hitchin and would move back if I could work out how to do it with minimal hassle.

There's nothing wrong with the armpit of England. You just need a strong stomach. I think where I live must be the earlobe of England. It's small fairly dirty, close to really good scenery and marvellously dotty. There may be males that live round here (sorry that should read "MALES")but I cant say I've noticed very many. Generally speaking tho the people are very nice. Bit thick, but nice. As long as you donyt have a need for intellectually stimulating conversation its fine.
