I forgot my tablet yesterday morning. My tablets have a very short half life. By 4pm I was feeling spaced out, and on the bus on the way home I was having hot & cold sweats, feeling nauseous & getting head rushes every tie I blinked. Thankfully, they stopped within half an hour of getting home & catching up with the druggage, so I could enjoy my Chinese takeaway & celebrate in (some sort of) style.

The TMI bit, though. Hoo, boy. One Big side effect of Venlefaxine is constipation. Seriously - even with prunes and bananas and ExLax. It turns out that going 19 hours without the stuff is quite enough to sort that little problem out. Blimey.

I'll find out tomorrow what my GP's doing about the 75mg tablet shortage. I'm running out and nowhere here has them any more. Wyeth are being pants & aren't fixing the manufacturing problem, which (iirc) dates from before Christmas.

What other sizes do they come in?

Possible options are (iirc) 37.5mg, 50mg and 150mg - I've asked / suggested getting twice as many 37.5mg, but I have no idea how that'll be received.

I've been told that the tablets have been stopped. I've been put on the slow release capsules

Side effects - what larks Pip! I'm still trying to work out if the time I spent on Lofepramine destroyed my memory or if it is early onset senility!

cos memory lapses aren't connected at all to the use of any ahem recreational drug use...
Aye, side effects are a bugger... Our vets sometimes use the side effects of particular drugs to treat other finicky health problems. This makes me think that using venlefaxine as a way to stop the runs might be a bit ott!

Yes... My cognitive powers receovered within a few weeks of baing put on a sensible dose. From the MSc research I did, I distinctly remember long-term memory deficits being linked to - er - unprescribed substances, since the approved medicines are tested to make sure they *don't* have long term detrimental effects. I'm going from memory there, though, so feel free to correct me :)

I wasn't quite bad enough to call it the "runs". I was just amazed at the capacity of my innards...

Nooooo!

I found that the capsules gave me more ups & downs (of wooziness, not mood) than the tablets. Arse.

Argh! Well; I'll see what the doctor gives me, and if necessary make an appointment to Discuss Things.

Bah.

Having a good old "clear-out" then? Hope you're not feeling hollow inside!

Erk, sorry, couldn't help myself.

On the plus side, and totally unrelated, I have scored 400g of beautiful Slytherin green icelandic lopi wool for 2squid from a charity shop.

That's not good.
*hugs*

I'm on fluoxetine and it makes my stomach swell painfully and also I don't sleep and have hot flushes all of which is fun. I wish they'd invent something that would work!

At least I knew it wouldd sort itself out :) And really - it wasn't too unpleasant (the TMI bit) - just rather sudden...

Fluoxetine didn't agree with me at all. This is far, far better in general. Except when I forget to take it.

Ooooh :)

I've just ordered a load of lace patterns from White Lies, after that Brit Knits post yesterday. $72 including P&P - but that is for 7 patterns :)

Sudden is not always good.

Fluoxetine is the least worst thing I've been on and I say I'm on it but I'm supposed to take one every three days which is impossible to remember and so I am in a constant state of coming on and off symptoms but that's mildly better than nothing or being on them all the time.

Erm - Marta, Milinda, Bella, Madeline jacket, Amelie, Sarah's Shawl-Collared Cardigan, and the Heirloom Lace Jacket.

And if I finish them all, the world will end :)

My other half was initally put on fluxoetine and indeed he didn't have time to be depressed he was too busy vomiting!

thankfully he is all well now on citalopram (it starts feeling odd if he forgets if for more than 1 day) and I feel happier as it is what my mother mostly prescribes people!

Oh yeah, med wars. I remember the way forgetting my Prozac used to make me utterly, irretrievably miserable two days later...
