Oddly enough, I'd say that being a spawn of the Devil would raise them up despite their redheadedness...

It's all because of the little shit who lives on the street at the back of my garden, and who wouldn't recognise discipline if it beat him round the head with a large spanner. Disturbingly, he's set up an instintive reaction in me that makes me want to apply said spanner to the head of any readheaded child I see, without pause to find out whether they really deserve it.

Apparently (so I'm told by one of the genuinely intelligent fanfic writers), Satan means "The Lawyer" in the original Hebrew (IIRC). Poor things had no chance, did they?
