Oook.

Three hours has never gone by so quickly :) I'll have some interesting bruises tomorrow, and I'll be walking like John Wayne for a day or two, but it was utterly, utterly, fantastic :) Proves my muscles haven't gone away, but were just in hiding, and also that I really don't have any fear of heights (or drops).

Oh, and I saw a Bugatti on the way home...

Oh. My. God.

I could never do that. Far, far too scared of heights.

I think you and [livejournal.com profile] dr_wez are very brave!

If you have any desire to overcome a fear of heights, it's a great way to do so. You *always* have a harness on, so that the worst thing that might happen is that you end up dangling awkwardly from somewhere.

We took a lass with us who was genuinely petrified of heights and who made it round the entire course (using the Bosun's Chair for the tougher bits) and did fine. She even became addicted to the zip-slides.

The people I went with would need to be really patient with me. I have a tendency to freeze and need coaxing when it comes to these things. Quite pathetic really.

The lass we went with had the same sort of problem. Her boyfriend was very patient with her, and then we hit upon the scheme of keeping her in the middle of the group, which made it easier to keep her momentum going so she didn't stop and start thinking evil thoughts. By the end of it, she wasn't exactly leaping from tree to tree but she was noticably more confident.

That sounds like an excellent plan. Shall we make it part of Le Weekend, or do it sooner (while the weather's still OK)?

When nannyo and muppet return we should see when everyone is free

I suspect elliphant and utcsb may also be interested but I suspect cabd will give it a miss given his terrible vertigo

I'll certainly do Grizedale again, but could be persuaded to travel the length of the country to sample Southern (i.e. superior) trees :)

Well, it's set up in 5 sections - you can drop out completely after the first one & get a full refund, or after any of teh others if you don't want to carry on. At each of the two hardest bits (hard = needing arm strength) there's an easier shortcut, too.

Freezing might have been the easiest way of all at times - taking all the weight off my legs & just sliding along the safety cable would ave been much easier, and would have reminded me that I *couldn't* fall.
