The best driving song, ever, is "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen.

I reckon it's making uop for the fact that iPod playlists are harder to turn into Queen's Greatest Hits than cassette tapes were :)

I don't think they come with Hamsters as standard :( Nor do the Monaros(es?).

I quite liked the idea of keeping a bucket of sand by the front door in case any bikers turn up. And a bat in case May does :) Does it mean I'm a goth if the first bat I thought of was big & flappy?

Duh me.

I voted for bat out of hell repeatedly on the website because I felt like it. Never mind.

Me too, cos I thought they were being unfair. Its my only gripe against the lovely James May. The Hamster looked lost in that Lamborghini which is surely not for little boys!!. Apart from that I want the recording of the car exhaust signature tune made by James. Fantastically funny stuff. What will we all do on Sunday nights now till Autumn??

I've mailed the website asking for a download. Otherwise, it's a case of finding someone who knows how to dl programmes from the web.

Oh, so did I. The others were all good songs, but I wanted to see that wonderful pained look he gets when Life Just Isn't Fair.

Cruel? Maybe, but fun :)

James May is without a doubt a big aristocratic cat.

What did your dad say about the car?

"Ugh"

Despite knowing the Capri's gearing ratios and the minutiae of the differences between 1972, 1973 and 1974 models, he dislikes Porsches with a vengeance :( Which is sad, because he was going to help me take it apart to see how it works. In my reality, anyway.

Booo, taking it apart to see how it worked would have been a fine fine hobby. You could have moved on to people after the Porshe (wait, am I not supposed to say that stuff out loud?

It's made me all thinky about cars now... sensible head stays stick with the monkeys for the moment though.

Cool.
I assume this isn't your hen night? ;o)

The 4th weekend would be ideal for me (and [livejournal.com profile] purpleheather who I'd meet on the Sunday), the 2nd would work, too and the 3rd at a pinch (Cambridge Requiem). During the first, my parents will be here but I might even be able to escape then.

*sigh*

One day I'll have a hen party - but next month would be a little precipitous!
From: [identity profile] puddingcat.livejournal.com
Ok.

First weekend (2-4 Sept), I'm available Friday & Saturday, but can't have a late Saturday night out cos I'm off to something called Go Ape in the Lakes on Sunday...

Second weekend (9-11), I'm in Nottingham for [livejournal.com profile] nurse_liz's birthday.

Third weekend (16-18), I'm available.

Fourth weekend (23-25), I'm provisionally available, although I'm in a course in York on the Friday and don't know when I'll be getting back. It's Ara that night, though, so that's a good incentive :)

Fourth-and-a-halfth weekend (30-2), I'm available.

Alternatively, I'm not booked up in Octiober except for Whitby on the Hallowe'en weekend.

The problem I have with that vote is that (relatively speaking) "Don't Stop Me Now" is arse, as were most of their other so-called "driving songs". Anyone who has actually ever driven a car at over 25mph knows that "Le Dernier Coup" is the bestest driving song ever.

Queen doesn't get near my MP3 collection, thanks to the valiant efforts of my virus checker.

And what does "Nothing Sucks Like An Audioscrobbler." mean?

Date: 2005-08-09 11:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] puddingcat.livejournal.com
No, no, no, no, no.

Queen are fab (well, they were until His Royal Highness Freddie died). And "Don't Stop Me Now" is a wonderful song (though they did do more appropriate driving themes).

Besides, James May clearly has a thing for them, as evidenced by his summaries of the five finalists, and he isn't the type to drive over 25 mph.

I think "Nothing Sucks Like An Audioscribbler" means that (a) someone doesn't appreciate the correct use of capital letters, and (b) that an object descibed as an "Audioscribbler" (which implies that there is more than one, or the definite article would have been used) produces suction in a way not matched by any non-identical item.
