What you've got to remember is that A A Gill is the foodie equivalent of Jeremy Clarkson. ;)

He *wishes* he were the foodie Clarkson. He really isn't. Clarkson might get extreme, but he's funny with it an (nearly) always comes down to a pretty sensible conclusion. AA Gill is just plain unpleasant.

Fair point. I have to admit I haven't read much A A Gill - in terms of food critics I prefer Jay Rayner and Giles Coren. A A Gill always has way too much preamble which isn't about food.
