I signed up to Penguin's Blog A Classic. I haven't had the e-mail yet, but I signed in on the site for a poke around & it looks as if I've been assigned this.

I got Eugenie Grandet by Balzac. At least they only say you need to review it not that the review needs to be positive so I'll probably try and write something funny.

I read Eugenie Grandet at university, and quite enjoyed some of the writing itself. I think you have to treat it a bit like science fiction, and abandon yourself to the world of it. I love Balzac most of the time, but found it slightly hard going. He has things to say though!
