You know what this feels most like? Not Another Bloody Fandom, that's what. I ordered 6 imps via [livejournal.com profile] nannyo and then accidentally bought some more from [livejournal.com profile] strangefrontier.

Love Potions: WHIP
Agony and ecstacy: Black leather and damp red rose.
Smells like run of the mill rose-scented hand cream. Nice but nothing special, and the leather gets lost in the generic "goop" scent. Later on, it smells like leather tastes when you chew it.

Sin & Salvation: NERO
The pinnacle of power, poisoned by sin and indulgence - this is our homage to Classical Roman debauch. Rosemary, bay, pine and a touch of lemon.
Interesting. The pine attacked my nostril hairs in the vial. Once on, it turned into Fireball jawbreakers; mainly cloves, with hints of cinnamon. I must have the most peculiar skin chemistry ever. Gorgeous, but very strong. Put this on A Bloke and I'd have my nose glued to him until I licked it it wore off. This is Rufus Sewell, in the BBC's "Taming of the Shrew".

Funereal Oils: MIDNIGHT
An ethereal bouquet of night-blooming flowers. Evening primrose, ruellia, flowering nicotiana, wild petunia, panani-o-kai, night phlox, night gladiolus, moonflower and the elusive scent of Nottingham Catchfly.
Floral but in that big, waxy flower way. Like lilies when you stick your nose so far in you get yourself pollinated, with a hint of grape hyacinth. Very elegant; Kristin Scott Thomas should smell like this.

Excolo: NEMESIS
The whip-wielding Goddess of Divine Retribution, Justice and Vengeance, and is the force that balances the scales of Tyche's fortune. She is also called Adrasteia, 'she whom none can escape', and Erinys, 'implacable'. Nemesis is the executrix of Olympian justice, and her primary duty is to punish hubris and mankind's offenses against the natural order with inflexible, remorseless and raging fury. Her symbols are a sword and scourge, a measuring rod and scales. Cypress, ginger, fig, dried rose, red patchouli, tonka bean and cyclamen.
Vile in the vial (hee!) but I felt I should try it anyway, just because I could. I'm glad I did. The fig is evident, and the ginger & patchouli stop it being sickly. I want more of this.

Yay, BPAL reviews! It's always so interesting to see how blends turn out with different people's skin chemistry. Nero was pure clove on me, and Nemesis was dominated by the cyclamen.

And yet Nero doesn't (apparently) contain clove at all!

I feel I should point out that I don't make a habit of chewing leather.

*rolls eyes*

Yeah, that's what they all say...

Also, I'm going to start describing scents by which celebrity should smell like that. Casanova is definitely Peter O'Toole.

But it's true!

Not many of the others have smacked me with a Name. "Whip" is someone comfortingly cuddly, but who's done Interesting Stuff in their past.

"Nero" is Rufus Sewell, particularly in Taming of the Shrew; an initial shock, but then magnetic heat and hindbrain attraction.

"Nemesis" is difficult too, because the sweetness argues in my head with the spiciness.

I would whistle innocently, but it did the same thing to my brain,. At least we can be puddles of drool (puddular?) together.

*Grin*

I'm being pleasantly surprised. So far, the ones I *thought* I'd like I've loved in the vial. The ones I wasn't sure about are much nicer on than off,a nd the one I've sniffed & Ewwed at - well, had this effect. Bottled RS? Yes, please ;)

I love it; it smells like the sort of person I'd like to be should smell.

Ah, BPAL...
