Why else would I have gone out shopping for a new pair of jeans (preferably Properly Black; failing that, nice faded 501-blue) and ended up getting beige cords? Worse still - I'm wearing them today.

What sort of physicist? Low temperature physicists require wooly jumpers & thick cords, 'tis true. But high energy ones tend to favour jeans or shorts, to enable cycling round cyclotrons.

At least I'm not an electrical engineer; the world is safe from the sight of me in elasticated waist polyester comfort trousers.
