Obligatory What I Did Today bit

Fantastic day out :)

For [livejournal.com profile] faerierhona's annual Escape From Colditz, we (being [livejournal.com profile] faerierhona, [livejournal.com profile] flamma_lupus, [livejournal.com profile] commlal, [livejournal.com profile] twisted_times, [livejournal.com profile] laumiere, [livejournal.com profile] isalani and [livejournal.com profile] vampwillow) were *supposed* to meet in Henry J Beans at 1pm. I was slightly delayed, thanks to a small blue car becoming a small blue lump of twisted metal on the A1 round about Welwyn. No ambulances, but both lanes were closed for a while. Still, I managed to get into Camden without getting lost once :)

A Large Cup Of Tea nad some nachos later, and we went on the traditional Boot Hunt. Rhona found some nice New Rocks, then we ran out of caffeine & returned to HKJB's for a refill. Unfortuately, the chocolate cake fudge* jumped out on us, and came (in my case) with another 3 large cups of tea. This prompted the comparison of someonewithoutanLJ to a blow dried chicken, and the decision that we needed to wire up a large hamster wheel to a capacitor, just so my excess energy could be put to use. At least the hordes stopped me trying on the orange, red & brown patchwork leather trousers in my super-caffeinated state :) Although my mouth still operated while my brain was in neutral ([livejournal.com profile] flamma_lupus: I've had my yearly Jenny fix. Jenny comes but once a year". Me: "Unfortunately, yes. Er...." Which led on to chocolate vibrators. Er, indeed.)

Anyway, I swapped the caffeine high for a piercing one in Chrome. I've given up on having a navel piercing (it's failed to heal & been rejected twice now) so I've gone for a second hole in each earlobe. So now I have cars *and rings* in my ears :) My icon is an historical record.

To round it all off (after Yet More Tea in Bar Uno), I got home without getting lost, too.

Obligatory Seasonal Haul
Canon Ixus 55 (I can remember when not drunk).
Bert's Bees mini selection (not mini bees, unfortunately; hand & body Stuff in a selection of shapes & smells).
Sleeping cat (cuddling chocolate truffles) mousemat & coaster set.
Random large-scale pot pourri smelling of fake vanilla.
[livejournal.com profile] claire_wain-made violent soap.
Biscuits in cat tin.
Mum & Gran not in hospital over xmas.

Damned good, really :)

Obligatory Doctor Who response
Lots of people seem unimpressed with David Tennant. While he's not as good an actor overall as Christopher Ecclestone, I still like how he's doing this. Ignoring the attractiveness bit of why I like him (since he looks a *lot* better in breeches & riding boots than he does in pyjamas), I think the reasons I like him are the same reasons that other people don't.

Yes, his Doctor is very similar to the last one, he was very manic at times, and was generally grabbing attention & showboating. I think that's all reasonable; his regeneration was interrupted, so his new self wasn't fully developed while he was doing all that, and some of his old personality could well have remained. Several of the Doctors have been slightly on the manic side, or not entirely serious - jellybabies being a case in point. And (as proved today), tea does have amazing restorative powers, and can make perfectly ordinary people completely hyper :)

But yes. Rose, after starting well (I'd be distrusting too) left her spine under the bed & went wet. Pah.

* Chocolate fudge cake is chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing. This was chocolate icing with a *little* bit of cake in the middle.

I calmed down enough to drive home without experiencing Lorentz contraction ;)

Must visit again before next Boxing Day!
