Help?

Computer oddness:

- Hotmail isn't letting me sign in. It keeps bouncing between the sign-in screen, asking for my e-mail address & password, and the "Match the characters in the picture" security screen.

- People's animated LJ icons aren't - well - animated. Anyone's.

I use Firefox & XP, if that makes a difference.

Flush out your cache and restart firefox.
You may have to kill your cookies as well.

Hrm, very wierd. Tried IE to see if it has similar hangups? If so may be your server cache.

IE is just as bad (well, worse, but tht's cos it's IE). Anywhere I can go & manually delete the things via Windows Explorer?

The cache flushing should sort it out but as it's both of them (unless they used a shared cache, which I don't think they do) it *may* be an ISP problem, checked their page?

Clear out your cookies for the hotmail thing.

Have you recently swapped over to Firefox?

Um - I thought I'd done this, but it hasn't worked. I did Tools - Options - Privacy - Clear all information stored while browsing.

Still bouncing back & forwards.

Hmmm, I'm getting similar weirdness. It *might* be that MS in their wisdom have decided Firefox is too scruffy and generally good to allow you to log in to hotmail.

MSN messenger's behaving perfectly well. It's just hotmail.com (and may the demons of spambots sick that address up their asses) that's misbehaving.

zenmeisterin had a similar problem with hotmail recently. I'm not sure if it's fixed now.

It did that to me, too. I just kept putting in the thing it wanted, and after about 6 times, it finally let me in.
