I swear, Renji can take my mind off anything.

Anyway, watching subtitled anime rather than dubbed is *interesting*. I'm starting to notice whether characters use "ore" or "boku", for a start, and am picking up all sorts of random words. Turns out that "mamoru" (*coughs* and looks at [livejournal.com profile] daegaer) means something along the lines of "protect" or "guard". Eeeenteresting.

This was one of the many underlying things I found with Sailor Moon to be so fascinating and proves to the naysayers that it is deeper than it looks :) (Cheesy as it is)

Hee! I knew that about Mamoru - I don't know how common a name it is, but if I watch subtitled crdits it seems to be at least not uncommon. I just read a Japanese crime novel (in English!) where the main character was a teenage boy called Mamoru whose family history was dogged by scandal and corruption, and who ends up trying to clear his uncle's name in a manslaughter charge while all around, weird science reigns. The author's next novel was about a young pyrokinetic woman who ends up entangled in a secret vigilante society set up to deal with cases the police can't touch. The next novel was about the madness caused by a computer RPG -- I guess I know what Koyasu was reading . . .
