My, I'm so cheery at the moment.

Those blood tests I had on 3 Janary? I got the results today (not them being late; me forgetting to call).

My cholesterol level is 5.2 (slightly high) and I've been advised to stay on my low-fat diet. Except I'm not on a low-fat diet. I suppose I'd better make an effort, though, having seen the trouble it's giving Dad.

The thyroid tests? My worst nightmare has come true; I'm not ill, just lazy and greedy :( My TSH level is 2.15 (normal range being 0.3 to 3, with higher numbers being closer to hypothyroidism) and my serum free T4 is 14.9. Which confuses me rather, since normal is 4.5-12.5, with higher being nearer to hyperthyroidism. Odd.

So anyway, I'm to cut back on things like chips and chocolate & cheese and fried rice & curries and all the nice stuff. Boo :(

Meanwhile, I'm wrestling with FRS17 disclosures, deferred tax treatment of such, and actuaries' reports. My life gets more exciting by the minute.

*hugs*

Sorry about the results Pudding.

Hope you can still find nice things to eat that won't clog up your blood pipes.

to reassure you about the cholesterol thingie, if they had tested your blood a year ago, a 5.2 would have been acclaimed as perfect, but they shifted the goal posts, so mine, which is a 5.3 is now thought to be danger danger danger as well. Even the nurse sort of tutted and said "well, if they will keep changing things around!", so PAH!

have you been tested for hormone levels like testosterone? Also for Insulin levels?

I'm the least testosteroney person I know! Seriously, I have hardly any body hair, even after coming off the pill.

I did get blood sugars tested - I'm *still* not diabetic ;)

TBH, I think I'm just so used to feeling low-level tired and crappy that I don't *notice* it any more, until it gets bad enough to make me stumble & slur my words.

Wasn't there a plan to get PC an organic box and teach her how to cook with the contents?
I had a lovely stirfry with carrots, Brussels sprouts and onions last night (and for lunch today) with everything except the salt being organic or at least free-trade.

Or me! I do vegetables (other than sprouts) by putting them in boiling water, returning it to the boil, then turnign it off & draining them. Hot & crunchy and lovely :)

Sprouts get an extra 5 mins, but only cos they're so dense.

As you don't eat that sort of thing all the time, that's not a problem at all.

It's not to do with depression? Always makes me want to eat more.

Well, yes. I comfort eat like there's no tomorrow (mmm, simple carbs), and the depression & tablets have buggered my metabolism. I was hoping for a nice hypothyroid diagnosis so I could get some nice metabolism-boosting thyroxine, and be able to eat without getting lardier.

Ho hum.

you mean they haven't tried to put you on statins yet with a cholesterol of 5.2! I am surprised

I am both happy and amazed that mine remains around 4.1,

Blech! No matter how you cook sprouts, they'll be minging!

Sprouts are the work of Beelzebub.
