And yet I'm thinking about NaNoWriMo, almost seriously.

I'm an accountant, for heaven's sake. I don't do emotive, sensitive, suspension-of-disbelief writing. I only started to write at all a few months ago, and that's just been a few drabbles for [livejournal.com profile] wk_100, a fandom that even leaves people in Forbidden Planet & Travelling Man looking blank (not black, which I typed originally). When I try dialogue, my Inner Grammar Fairy waves her magic wand & forces everyone to speak correctly.

Really, 50,000 words just isn't going to happen, so I'll need to do something else instead.

...And that's where I run out of ideas. WK fanfic has almost limitless scope, but less than half a dozen of you will know what I'm going on about. I could write what I know, but you'd all fall off your chairs in torpor after the first couple of lines. Corporate Tax Law does that to people, more often than you'd think.

So. You. Ideas. Goodness knows, I've asked other people for drabbles & ficlets often enough; I want to give something (other than incoherent adoring feedback) back. Fanfic, original brainsplurge, An Explanation Of Something, a userpic - I'd like to do something each day of November.

*Waves hands imperiously* Inspire me, Friends.

I'll tell you what I've done for nearly every university writing assignment: written fanfic and then changed the characters very slightly and the names as much as I possibly can. I also wrote a piece made almost entirely of stories a verbally diarrhoeaic friend told me. Writing is all about plagiarism with your own twist.

Only I didn't tell you that.

I've signed up for NaNoWriMo but it's possible I won't manage it if other stuff (like the editting job) actually happens. 1700 words a day is quite a target, especially as one day is my birthday, two days feature friends visiting and also a possible weekend in Leeds... Gah!

Good luck to you, though! You write very nicely in blog form, so you'll at least have style on your side :)

Thank you :) You could always aim to *edit* 50,000 words in the month?

I think songfic is the way forward, cos then it gives me an excuse to finish my mammoth fanmix (which has stalled since I can't get it down to an LP's worth) and also provide an excuse for ponciness. 30 songs should just about cover everything I want to inflict on people :)
