I've been dying my hair blue-black for so long (6-7 years, I reckon) I'd forgotten what colour *other* hair dyes were while developing.
The blue-black one looks blue-black in the bottle.
This one (Schwarzkopf's Red Black) started off the colour of
Dulce de Leche (mmmm). 20 minutes on, it's gone the colour of a fresh conker. It's quite reassuring, really; the ginger I used to use looked pinky-scarlet while on. At least I know I won't end up with green streaks.
ETAOops. I hadn't thought about what a slightly lighter colour would look like over the top of black. Most of it's gone a slightly reddish black, as advertised. The roots? The roots, which had got to about half an inch long, are
glowing. I look as if my scalp's on fire, under a thick layer of charcoal.
Oops.
