WHY is knitting wool so expensive? Not only the posh crafty stuff like Colinette; even mostly-acrylic chunky wool is about £3 a ball, and you need at least 10 balls to make a jumper. For *actual* wool, not the stuff Proper Knitters call "yarn", you're looking at £5 a ball, or £8 for merino or lambswool. Since I get itchy from Actual Wool other than merino, cashmere & Colinette, I'm going to be very poor, very quickly :(

Poo.

Maybe try some charity shops? They always seem to have tons of wool. :)

I would, but they rarely have enough of the same colour / type to make more than a scarf :( And I'm not really into granny-pastel scarves :(

Good point.

The only other option of course is to buy a sheep.

Oooh, now there's an idea...

Nah. The cats would eat it ;)

Perhaps I could get a donkety & figure out how to spin donkeyfur?

Not to mention the necessary shearing, cleaning, spinning and dyeing or the waiting for it to grow back.
You could keep a flock and stagger the shearing. That would help keeping the grass in the garden short, too and the cats might be less inclined to attack. :o)

Shearing would mean borrowing a muscly Australian for a weekend!

Cleaning -> dyeing would be part of the fun.

Short grass just menas that the cats rely on their psychic camouflage to stalk things (i.e. they lie in the middle of the lawn and *will* the birds not to see them...)

Donkeys (or even "donketys") sound fun...

*laughs*
How would the cats react to donkeys?
