Colinette order

I'm caving in & joining the knitting craze.

Would anyone would like to join in with a Colinette order? Let me know here (comments are screened, in case it's for a present).

ETA: Paypal works, as does cash if I'm likely to see you. Cheques get forgotten about. I'll order on Friday 9th - a week tomorrow.

They're all gorgeous. [livejournal.com profile] nannyo got a mixed bag & there wasn't one hank in it that was scratchy, or ugly, or dull.

and see, I haven't even knitted anything out of that bag yet, and I'm considering ordering more. ACK! Temptress! But the justification goes thusly: mixed bag is cheap compared to the other way of getting things, more mixed stuff means more really random knitting projects, and the hope that I can match some of the past random stuff, mixed bag is snuggly and lovely and gives me wool bitches. Can you see a flaw? I can't.

I'm restraining myself til I've actually finished the two projects I'm working on now. I may have to get back to you. *yearns*

*yearns*

Don't you mean "yarns"?

If you get another bag, you might find a nice hank to complement a current project... And I'll see you at least twice between ordering & the New Year :p

has arm twisted, REALLY HARD

WEeeeee....*yearns for yarns* Damn you, sign me up! I'll give you the money next weekend when I see you. Are you coming to us for New Year? You get bed space.

I need a "persuasive" icon :)

Mixed bag, or a particular colour this time?

Yes, I'm NYEing at Chateau Blaysford! *Especially* if I get a bed :)

*nods* I was eyeing those up - they look gorgeous.

It might be worth trying to get a fairly standard, non fluffy or slubby yarn for your first go though - it makes learning so much easier, and you can quickly move on to the more exciting stuff!

I tried a bit with one of [livejournal.com profile] nannyo'a gimps (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] pink_weasel for giving it a name!) and it was slow, but fun. Anyway, I like a challenge!

[livejournal.com profile] miss_newham has recently learned to knit on some lumpy skinny horrible yarn with no stretch to it and after learning on that, she can knit anything.

Learning to knit with something you like is the best thing ever.

I'd have thought stretch would confuse matters? Tension was one of my biggest problems at the best of times.

Yes. I need things I want, in yarn I like. I need to push toe 1970s/80s Woman's Own patterns out of my head & have fun :)

See, that's the worry! Some of those are similar to Colnette's patterns (the big cardies with fuzzy edges) and *how* do you know in advance whether it'll look great or awful?

What is this Colinette? Is it an on-line company? I already know how to knit and am planning Knitting week at school next term so all wool would be interesting. Think the craze started when they developed some new styles of patterns and crazy new yarns that were much more trendy than the twinsets we all used to knit when I was a young thing. If you need help with patterns or "tricky stitches" give me a yell.

www.colinette.com

It's gorgeous stuff and would inspire even the least artistic of people.

I may well ask for translations of patterns. They read like sifc pdio ec hzag gr to me.
