Right. I need help in getting organised.

I can manage to run a certain number of things at once, and I'm not going to guess a number, becasue I'd only keep remembering things I'd forgotten, and end up with more footnotes than body, sounding like the Spanish Inquisition.

Having said that, I'm managing to keep tabs on what I'm eating at the moment1 and to go to the gym2, I'm slowly catching up on the massed piles of Stuff lying around the house, and I'm doing the washing up before I run out of forks3.

I'm not remembering appointments, which I was before adding in the food bit. I forgot my therapy session tonight, which is more annoying because Sue charges for missed appointments (quite reasonably), and I persistently forget to renew my prescription before the last minute, which leaves me having to ask for it to be rushed through the GP's surgery. I do have a diary, and usually remember to write things in it, but it's bloody huge and I still forget to check whether I have anything written in it. I have loads of things I need to get around to doing (such as pay the water bill before it goes to a debt collection agency again, and write more things for Oversteer) but I get home and then it's bedtime, and I haven't even had the energy to think about getting anything done.

Yes, today at work was dreadful. And I've ended up with a number of footnotes anyway, despite my best intentions. Bother.

1 not in a dieting way, but in an out-of-interest-to-facilitate-future-fettling way.
2 I've joined GL-14, which seems very nice & has computerised programmes instead of mucky bits of paper, and runs decent looking kickboxing classes without sparring but with good technique.
3 and not by living on Chinese takeaways for the chopstick option, either.

Tell you what - when we're both being grumpy old men, we can hire a secretary to keep track of things for us. How does that sound?

What kind of a secretary?

I'm thinking the human kind. A secretary bird wouldn't be much good at reminding us to pay bills.

Are secretary birds not human, then? What about secretary blokes?
