Cor :)

We had an "Easter" Fair yesterday afternoon. Lots of places had donated prizes and cakes, and all the proceeds went to the Children's Heart Foundation.

For a combined donation / entry fee of £7, I ended up winning a pair of day passes each worth £15 to a gym / health club (which will be handy when my current deal runs out on Monday), a bottle of Marks' best red plonk, the Biggest Cranberry Muffin IN THE WORLD EVER, and three so-called consolation prizes of creme eggs :) I don't know yet whether I've won the Enormous Bunny in the "Name the Easter Rabbit" competition. I wanted to call it James (it looks like a James) but that wasn't on the list so I guessed Harvey instead.

Today I went into town at lunch, having stuffed myself with nuts so I didn't want a sandwich, and bought 2 Queensryche albums, 1 Queen, and 1 Muse for a total of £20.41.

The fools lovely people at TGT have made me a Mod (though I'm still a rocker at heart). I'm crazed on the power already.

I think Ellie is the only Mod who's actually a Mod...

Cat Town!

You make the Rick Astley horns; you're definitely a rocker :)

Which Queensryche albums?

Promised Land and Rage For Order (which I have on vinyl but not CD). There was another (whose name I can't remember, but it wasn't Mindcrime or Empire...), but the only song I recognised was the one I absolutely hate from the greatest hits I have.

My guess it was probably Q2K, which was an absolutely horrible album. I'm giving the new album a listen right now (Operation: Mindcrime II), but I'm disappointed by it so far. I even made a point of going back and listening to the original yesterday to make sure I wasn't just waxing nostalgic and holding it to a too high standard, but I wasn't.

Tate should have gotten down on his knees and begged Chris DiGarmo to co-write the sequal to Mindcrime with him. The band's songwriting and performance simply hasn't been the same since DiGarmo left.

The song was Sign Of The Times; I just remembered, and now it's earworming me.

I agree on the decline. Mindcrime was superb all the way through; Empire & RfO were pretty darned good in places, but I can't get excited about anything much either side of those. It's such a shame.

;)

Courtesy of the lovely [livejournal.com profile] brute_force. The amusing bit is, the t-shirt starts off "I've got the..." but you'd need to be looking pretty much vertically down to read that :)

That would explain why I didn't actually spot that. ;o)
