A most Excellent weekend :)

There's something very satisfying about bucking a trend and turning up to a Hallowe'en party dressed not as a pirate or a witch (or other things with an excuse to show lots of leg and / or cleavage), but instead as a male Mad Scientist :) Someone, somewhere has photos, but it isn't me. I do, however, have pictures of the results of [livejournal.com profile] professoryaffle's baking marathon, including the pink wafer mausoleum and the Ace of Spades cupcake.

I'm not sure what to do with the tie I bought. It's covered in pigs, and is far too sweet to take back to the charity shop from whence it came.

I'm getting too old for more than a small drink. Yesteray was lost mainly to sleep, with occasional intermissions for Veronica Mars and Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service. And, once again, talking to [livejournal.com profile] louiselux helped get Yuletide pointed in a potentially successful direction :)

Tired today. Jasper decided to try to tunnel through the back door at 3am, then howl until I went downstairs and told him off.

I saw something via the f-list over the weekend over how Hallowe'en is now apparently an excuse for women to dress up like whores. I've just gone looking, but can't find it anywhere.

I don't object to people doing it. I'd like to do it myself, in the right crowd. What I *don't* like is the predictability these days; it reminds me of university, where all the RPers would only ever turn up in their LARP kit. What happened to imagination, creativity and indviduality?

I just don't like the way it's seemingly forced on women. Sexy costumes are fine and fun- but can I have more variety? I tend to end up looking at the male section of the costumes with envy.

Yes. It seems to turn into a compulsory competition - you *have* to show off your body, and you *have* to look as sexy as possible.

Having said that, the top female costume at the party was Carrie - complete with buckets of fake blood :)

I was River Tam, wearing, er, not a lot. But I had weapons.

Wearing a small dress doesnt necessarily mean dressing like a harlot. River Tam =/= harlot, in every possible way :)
